Stainless Steel Sand Control Screen for Oil Wells and Water Well Filtration
Zhongpu Company supplies high-quality sand control screens, designed to provide optimal filtration and prevent sand production in oil and gas wells. These screens are made from durable stainless steel or carbon steel, offering excellent resistance to corrosion and wear. Available in a variety of sizes and configurations, our sand control screens meet the highest industry standards and are suitable for use in both gravel-packed and standalone screen applications.
Type:
- Wire-Wrapped Screens: Wire-wrapped screens are stainless steel wires wrapped around a central pipe. This shape gives them a large open area, which means high fluid flow and good sand filtering. They are often used with gravel-packed wells to stop sand but let fluid move easily.
- Pre-Packed Screens: Pre-packed screens come with a layer of gravel or sand already inside before being put into the well. This layer helps to steady the wellbore and stops fine sand from getting into the flow. They are often used in soft rock formations where adding gravel packing later would be hard.
- Slotted Liner Screens: Slotted liner screens are perforated pipes with slots spaced evenly to filter sand while letting fluid through. They are used in wells with soft rock formations and can be used alone or with other sand control methods.
- Stainless Steel Mesh Screens: These screens are made from woven stainless steel mesh, which creates a fine filter to stop sand. They are strong and resist rust, making them good for high-pressure, high-temperature wells.
- Expandable Screens: Expandable screens are designed to expand and fit tightly inside the wellbore after they are put in. This tight fit ensures effective sand control in wells that are irregular or bent, where other screens might not work well.
- Combination Screens: Combination screens use a mix of different screen types (like wire-wrapped and slotted liners) to get a balance of sand control and good fluid flow. They are used in wells with different amounts of sand where one screen type alone wouldn't be enough.
- PPS (Pre-Pack Sand) Screens: PPS screens have a pre-packed layer of gravel or sand between the screen and the wellbore. This pre-pack steadies the wellbore and makes the screen better at filtering sand while keeping fluid flowing. They are perfect for wells with soft rock formations.
- PMC (Permanently Multilayered Composite) Screens: PMC screens are made of multiple layers of filtering materials, like wire mesh and perforated metal. The layers provide better filtering and are more resistant to wear and rust, making them suitable for wells with lots of sand and harsh conditions.

Dual-Layer Pre-Packed Well Screen for Effective Sand Control
The dual-layer pre-packed well screen features an outer and inner screen pipe, a pre-filled gravel layer, and a central pipe. Single-layer wire-wrapped screens of varying diameters are welded together, with quartz sand tightly packed between the pipes, forming a multi-layer sand barrier. This design prevents formation sand from entering the well, ensuring effective sand control. Gravel packing and high-temperature cementing are performed on the surface, simplifying installation and reducing construction time. With high compressive strength, permeability, and large flow area, this screen is suitable for both vertical and deviated wells, providing fast, efficient results.

Slotted liner screens come in diameters ranging from 2.375" (6.03 cm) to 9.625" (24.46 cm) for sand filtration.
PPS Screen Structure and Working Principle for Sand Control

The PPS screen is designed for efficient sand control in filtration applications. It consists of a perforated base pipe, a stainless steel filtration jacket with punched slots, and a backup ring. The base pipe, typically made from API casing or tubing, features multiple drilled holes. The high-quality stainless steel filtration jacket is precisely manufactured with a dense array of spatial slots using digital control punching technology. This structure allows formation fluid to flow through the slots, while preventing formation sand from entering the filtration system, ensuring effective sand control. An optional outer protective shroud can be added to reinforce the filtration jacket's durability.
Benefits of PPS Screens:
- Precise Slot Control: The slot width ranges from 0.30mm to 1.00mm, with an accuracy of ±0.05mm. This precision ensures that the screen is tailored to filter sand of various particle sizes, providing optimal sand control for different well conditions.
- Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: The stainless steel filtration jacket is highly resistant to acid, alkali, and salt, making it suitable for environments with H2S and CO2. The slot space remains stable even in long-term exposure to corrosive elements, ensuring consistent performance.
- Enhanced Strength and Deformation Resistance: The filtration jacket is supported by the base pipe, with an optional outer shroud for additional protection. The integral strength of the base pipe is 2-3% below the standard casing or tubing, allowing it to withstand compression without significant deformation. Even in the event of localized deformation, the slot gap remains unaffected, ensuring reliable sand control over time.
PMC Screen: High-Performance Sand Control Technology

PMC (Permanently Multilayered Composite) Screens
The PMC screen consists of a perforated base pipe, a PMC sand control filtration jacket, and a stainless steel outer protective shroud. The base pipe is typically made from API casing or tubing, while the filtration jacket is constructed from multilayer stainless steel micropore weaves. All components are welded together to create a durable and reliable sand control solution.
PMC screens offer efficient mechanical sand control with superior performance, featuring high permeability, strength, deformation resistance, and corrosion resistance.
Features and Corrosion Resistance of PMC Screens:
- Material Composition: For standard wells, the base pipe is made from API casing or tubing (e.g., J55, N80), while the filtration jacket and protective shroud are made from high-quality stainless steel.
- Corrosion Resistance for Special Wells: For wells exposed to corrosive environments such as H2S, CO2, or C1, the base pipe may be made from anti-corrosion casing or stainless steel tubing, with the filtration jacket and protective shroud still made from high-quality stainless steel.
- Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: The PMC screen is highly resistant to acids, alkalis, and salts, ensuring long-lasting performance in harsh environments.
